Camper Care

We place great care and emphasis on ensuring the physical, mental, and emotional needs of campers and staff are not just met, but exceeded.

Jessica Daly, BSN, RN

Camp Nurse

A full-time RN attends to all camp medical needs during the regular camp day. They review all camper and staff medical histories prior to the start of camp and are available to meet privately ahead of time to address any individual medical concerns. The nurse administers all care and will communicate directly with families as needed throughout the course of the summer.

Camper Care Coordinator

We are proud to have a full-time Camper Care Coordinator on staff at JCC Camp Ruach during the summer. Their role is to support all campers and staff and be a resource to families. Individual and group support is provided as needed and/or as requested prior to the start of camp and during the season as well. The Camper Care Coordinator also facilitates weekly activity periods for select age groups focusing on themes such as leadership and friendship. Our goal is to equip children with the tools needed to problem solve, develop friendships, manage different social situations, and have the best summer ever!

JCC Camp Ruach is the proud grant recipient of the Yedid Nefesh grant from Foundation for Jewish Camp focused on enhancing the mental, emotional, spiritual, and social health (MESSH) of our camp community.

Inclusion Coordinators

Our Disability Inclusion Program is designed to provide custom support for campers with disabilities. Campers may be eligible for a private inclusion counselor, a shared inclusion counselor, or may be fully integrated into a camper group with no additional hired support. Our goal is to create a meaningful, successful, and positive camp experience for all campers. We work with each child to establish individual goals, implement strategies for success, and implement additional support systems as needed.

We have two inclusion coordinators who support the campers throughout camp.

Safety & Security

Safety is the top priority at JCC Camp Ruach. There is a full-time security director who oversees all of the safety and security elements at camp and works closely with local law enforcement. If you have any specific questions, please contact Alanna Steinberg.

Steve McNally, Security Director

Heat and Hydration Management

Ensuring campers stay cool, hydrated, and protected is a top priority for all of our staff. Campers are encouraged to carry reusable water bottles to every activity and there are water refill station setup throughout the campgrounds and facilities. Regular water breaks are implemented to ensure campers are sufficiently hydrated throughout the day.

Campers should come already wearing a layer of sunscreen and then staff help campers to reapply as needed throughout the day, especially after each water-based activity period. All campers should bring their own sunscreen from home.

We spend almost the entire camp day enjoying camp activities outdoors and are prepared to make modifications to the schedule as needed in response to the weather. Such modifications may include adding water elements to outdoor activities, adding additional swim periods, or transitioning some activities indoors to the air-conditioned JCC facilities.
